Your answer will be effective if prepare in advance. The more you prepare, the more you will be confident during a job interview. 1. Tell me about yourself

It is your chance to differentiate yourself from other candidates. They want to see how you react to a question and   evaluate your communication skills. Tell them about your qualifications, interest, and work experience that relate to the job you are interviewing for. Keep your answer concise and avoid rambling. Don’t dive into your life story. Highlight your accomplishments that are relevant to the position you are applying for.  

2. What are your strengths?

Tell them about your true strengths with examples that are crucial to the position. This question will help them to find out right candidate for the right job.  Read job description carefully to find out those strengths the company is looking for. Don’t choose those attributes that you think the interviewer wants to hear.

  • Why should we hire you?
  • What makes you a good fit?
  • What do you consider your most significant strength? 

 3. What are your weaknesses?

There is no one who has no weakness. The interviewers want to know how much you honest about yourself and to seek self-improvement.  Tell them about your real weaknesses and must mention that you have a plan to overcome your weaknesses though training or practice. Also give an example of previously improved weakness, if you have improved.

  • If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?
  • What do you most want to improve in yourself?
  • Can you tell us the area for development?

4. Why did you leave your last job?

If you voluntarily left your previous job or want to leave your current job, state reason that you want to grow and take new opportunities and you are better fit for the position you are interviewing for than your current or last position.  If you were literally fired from your last job, state reason in a positive way.    Avoid criticizing your previous employer.

5. Why do you want this job?

Company wants to hire a person, who is passionate about the job, so you have a good answer about why you want the position. You can say that you want to work with them because you like their working condition. You can also mention that they have sincere environment and good reputation and you want to be a part of it. You can think about other good reasons that would work. Never say that you want to work with them because of money, location, work schedule, or benefits, because these reasons are not important to them.

6. Where do you see yourself in five years?

The recruiters want to know whether you have set realistic expectations for your career goals. They care about your career goals because they want to hire someone who sees the job as a great career move. The company does not want to waste time, money and effort in training and development of someone who is already planning to leave. To answer this question, think realistically about where this position could take you and answer accordingly. Also show your level of commitment to the position.

7. What are your salary expectations?

When you are preparing yourself for interview, you should have this question in your mind. Try to find out the average salary for someone in the industry you are applying for. When you are asked about salary expectations, talk about pay in terms of ranges. For instance, ‘’I’m looking for a starting salary somewhere between $25000 to $30000. Give your reasonable range based on your experience, education, and skills. Make sure the hiring manager know that you are flexible and willing to negotiate.

8. How do you respond to stress and pressure?

The reason for asking this question is to assess how calm and reliable you are under pressure. Give them an example of unexpected problem or difficult work and how you coped with it. Also mention that what was the result and what you learn from it.

9. What do you know about us?

If you don’t have enough information about the company, it is an indication that you are not serious about working with them. If you really want to stand out, get information from their website or do some Google research.  They want to know whether you care about their goals. Show that you have some significant details about the company. Say something that shows you understand the company’s goals.

 
10. Do you have any questions for us?

This question gives you a chance to stand out from the crowd and interview the interviewer. If you ask questions it will indicate that you did some research about the company and you are passionate to get more information. It will not only make you appear interested but also will show that you listened them attentively. Finally, it will leave good impression of you.

Many unexpected questions may also be asked. But if you prepare yourself for the above ten questions, you will be able to handle broader range of other job interview questions.
